Periphery

Poems

Starting with Badlands, these sample poems best exemplify the tone and intent set in the collection. Badlands spans a decade of poems written on the road, in bars, on friends’ porches, and other places of wandering spirit.

The later poems are taken from one of two burgeoning collections, Stillborn Wilderness (Pooka Press, 2007) and Temporary Shelters (also set to be published in 2007).

Many of Aleah’s poems explore the life-death cycle and our relationship with nature. By illuminating this relationship, she exposes the dualistic propaganda of man/men versus nature/women so engrained in our world view.

A believer in freely sharing ideas, Aleah’s poetry is available in PDF form for you to print, read and share. Many creatives and professionals keep a tight leash on their ideas, as if they were finite, a limited source that would be devalued somehow if shared. But our world is too focused on property and “value” as it is. All that is asked is that you please respect the work and give credit if re-printing or posting online.

Enjoy!
